Telstra wanted to combine the power of mobile applications, IoT sensors and a meshed network of communication hubs together to resolve an age-old problem: the loss of customers' valuable possessions. The challenge was to create a comprehensive tracking solution that would work reliably across Australia's vast geography while being simple enough for everyday consumers to use.
By attaching Bluetooth tags to valuables, Telstra's mobile app allows users to track the exact location of their possessions on a mapping interface 24/7, 365 days a year. The solution leverages Telstra's extensive network infrastructure and creates a community-driven mesh discovery network where users help each other locate lost items.
Michael and his team partnered with the in-house Telstra team to work on the co-creation of the mobile app. As specialists, Michael and his team adopted a consultative approach to the technical design and delivery whilst still being hands-on in the day-to-day development of the solution. With the project spanning 12 months, Michael and his team played an integral role in the core features of the application including the Bluetooth interface and mapping components which are key to the app's functionality.
"Michael and his team's consultative approach and hands-on development expertise were crucial to bringing our vision to life. The app is now engaging new users every day with excellent reviews, and we've created a collaborative community network that helps customers all over Australia recover their valuable possessions."
